Visit from Sir Ben Kingsley

On Thursday June 26, Montrose was honored by a visit from the Academy Award winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley. Sir Ben has been filming in the Medfield area for his latest movie Ashecliffe. He came to Montrose to accept the Courage of Conscience award from the Sherborn Peace Abbey for his portrayal of Ghandi in the 1982 film Ghandi and to honor Montrose graduate, Vani Manchanda ‘08, for her work at the Peace Abbey. Vani was instrumental in saving a statue of Ghandi from being auctioned off and through her efforts and her work with the Peace Abbey, they were able to save the statue. For the past several months, this 9 and a half foot tall statue has been in the hallway of Montrose as a reminder of peace.
