Montrose juniors recently enjoyed a significant milestone, the Junior Ring Ceremony. A beloved Montrose tradition, this celebration marks an important step for members of the 11th grade.

Sarah Morrill ’15, president of the senior class, welcomed the juniors, their parents and the rest of the student body, faculty and staff to the ceremony in the Arts & Athletics Center. The Junior Ring Ceremony, she observed, is an annual opportunity for juniors to celebrate their achievements thus far, and to mark their entrance into their final year at Montrose.

“By wearing your ring, you will have a constant reminder of your time here, tangible evidence of the tremendous faith, character and vision that are a hallmark of any Montrose graduate. Wear them with pride,” said Sarah.

“Wearing your ring, you have a responsibility to uphold the Montrose legacy, to show pride in the school and to represent this group of elite women,” said member of the mathematics faculty Betsy White ’96, who spoke to the juniors on the 20th anniversary of her own Junior Ring Ceremony.

Each girl received her ring from a faculty member and a rose from a member of the senior class. After the ceremony, younger students and faculty lined up to turn the juniors’ rings. A reception followed for juniors and their parents hosted by the seniors.

“Every Montrosian’s ring is inscribed with three ideals that remind her she is called to greatness - Veritas, Libertas, Caritas,” noted Director of Institutional Advancement Jennifer Schiller. “As a woman of vision, she is called to pursue the truth - veritas. As a woman of character, she is called to use her freedom - libertas - for good. As a woman of faith, she is called to love others - caritas - authentically, seeing the face of God in everyone she meets.”
