Softball Honors for Freshman

The Boston Globe names Elizabeth Wade ’17 an All-Scholastic softball player.
The Boston Globe yesterday named Elizabeth Wade ’17 an All-Scholastic athlete for softball. The Globe noted that Elizabeth, the Independent Girls Conference co-MVP, “led her team to an undefeated season and league championship with a .700 batting average and two home runs. She also dominated on the mound, giving up just six hits this season.”

Elizabeth was the only freshman of the 27 All-Scholastic prep school athletes chosen by the Globe.

Elizabeth’s feats are the more remarkable for the fact that she pitched the final four games of the season with a broken thumb, for which she has recently undergone surgery. “This young lady is tough as nails and incredibly selfless at the same time,” said Head of School Dr. Karen Bohlin of Elizabeth.

The Globe also named seven Montrosians as All-Stars, the largest number of All-Stars for any school in the Independent Girls Conference: Elizabeth, Caroline Strauss ’14, Jess Pink ’15 and Maggie Fitzgerald ’14 for softball, and Elle Schirripa ’15, Megan St. Martin ’14 and Olivia Giannakopoulos ’14 for lacrosse.

Congratulations to all!
