College Decision Day

Montrose seniors conclude college search process with many good options, merit scholarships.
May 1 is College Decision Day - a day for Montrose School's seniors to celebrate the successful conclusion of the college search process.

"Our girls have many good choices, after navigating the process with intentionality and self-reflection," said College Guidance Counselor Mary Foley. "As a Wellesley College admissions counselor told me, she looks forward to reading applications from Montrose students."

Collectively, the 41 members of the Montrose class of 2016 have garnered over $7.3 million in merit scholarships, an average of $178,000 per senior. They have received 232 college acceptances, an average of more than five acceptances per senior. These include acceptances to some of the nation's top educational institutions, including MIT, University of Virginia, University of Notre Dame, Northeastern, Boston College and the College of the Holy Cross. "The self-knowledge and confidence that Montrose students display in the application process is noted, and sets them apart," said College Guidance Counselor Sarah Nolan. "An admission counselor from Boston College told me, 'Whenever I interact with Montrose students, their confidence in and comfort with themselves is readily apparent. Montrose young women know who they are. They know what they value and they are not afraid to express themselves. During the often challenging transition to college, the ability to know who you are and to stay true to yourself is a blessing.'"
